That’s A Wrap…
The summer-to-fall transition can be bittersweet, but I’m all about making the most of a new season. The way you dress is directly correlated with how you feel, so I decided to take a dressy approach.
A smart/casual look is an instant mood booster when you’re trying to say goodbye to summer months. This wrap top from Shabby Apple is the perfect fit. The vertical lines elongate my shape and the wrap detail highlights the tiniest part of my waist, showing it off. I quite like the sleeves too — a different length for a unique point of visual interest. Along with perfect construction, the color is beautiful. A cornflower blue like this is flattering on any complexion and mixes well with almost anything you already have in your closet.
If you know me, you know I love my bright colors. I added a highlight shade with my cherry red heels. The pointy toes play up the vertical stripes in the Shabby Apple top by further elongating my shape. The textured clutch ties the whole outfit together.
When you’re playing with colors – especially for a smart or business casual look – it’s important to have a neutral base. This black skirt by Alaia is a staple in my closet. I can wear it for any occasion, and the fit and flare shape is super flattering. Be careful when investing in a skirt like this, because the hem line is everything. Try and find a skirt that hits 2-6″ above the knee or if you’re looking for a midi, anything above the ankle to mid-calf works great. And if you love a skirt but it’s not quite the length you want, remember that a good tailor is a girl’s best friend.
I feel fresh and put together in this outfit. Thanks to Shabby Apple for this beautiful top, which is just as versatile and comfortable as it is chic. Wear it to work with a skirt like this, or throw on jeans and wear it out shopping. In this outfit, I’m ready to take on whatever the day throws at me.
