Sequins for day…

Sequins are a GNO’s best friend. But the shimmering fabric doesn’t only belong on the dance floor. Make sequins work for daytime by adding sophisticated accessories and other minimalist pieces. Just because you’re toning down the sparkle doesn’t mean you can’t still shine.

To make this work appropriate, I’ve added some beautiful (and practical) pearl jewelry. The hints of gold elevate the traditional pearl bracelet and rings. And the front-and-back pearl earrings are trendy enough to offset the classic strand necklace. Keeping with the minimal accessory theme is my plaid scarf, tying together the black and white in the skirt.

I’ve gone with a solid black cashmere sweater on top so the skirt can still stand out. Cashmere is a luxurious fabric, and when I wear it I feel both elegant and super comfortable. I’d wear this bootie during the day. The interesting shape adds another element of surprise to the otherwise-easy outfit formula. I’d switch these booties out for strappy heels, and throw on a leather jacket for a night out. By adding my staple red lip, this outfit is ready for any desk to drinks day ahead. Who ever said black and white has to be boring?
