The holiday sparkle series continues! Last week, you saw me in a sequined skirt sparkly enough to turn heads. This week, I’m refining the shine and adding other textures to create depth. My crystalline shirt by Giovanna Battaglia reads “My Favorite Color Is” stacked on top of a gorgeous crystal rainbow. It’s the perfect unique and obvious entry point without overpowering the rest of the outfit. (Which can be a challenge sometimes!) I’ve been following Giovanna Battaglia’s career for years, and I’m a huge fan of her style and talent as an editor and stylist of some of the top fashion publications. This top in particular reminds me of one of her windows she curated for Bergdorf Goodman during New York Fashion Week; a sophisticated explosion of rainbow colors! It takes true talent to take such a playful and youthful component (like Crayola colors) and refine it in such an elegant way.
I could have taken any color in that rainbow to highlight throughout the rest of my look, but of course I chose red — one of my favorite hues. This Alice + Olivia maxi skirt is perfect for winter because of the luxe velvet texture. The belt itself accentuates my waist under the voluminous jacket, so I can show off my shape. This is something very important to remember when layering, and wearing a belt at the smallest part of your waist is the easiest trick in the book. Luckily, the snow hasn’t hit us yet in New York so I can wear this look with a killer pair of Aquazzura platform sandals. Once the colder temperatures do hit, I’ll can wear the velvet maxi with an elegant pointy-toe chelsea boot for daytime, or an embellished stiletto in the evening.
The jacket itself is perfect for holiday parties and get-togethers. For a casual twist on this look, I’d switch out the fur for a leather moto jacket. Adding edge can dress it down for daytime, and any kind of denim on bottom could successfully complete that ensemble. The beauty of the designer t-shirt is that it’s just as versatile as your favorite blouse. The quality shows through, which allows the t-shirt itself to be appropriate for just about anything short of a black tie event. All you need to do is know how to style it for the occasion at hand.
I’ve finished off this particular outfit with a vintage beaded clutch and a favorite pair of sunnies. Like always, I have a vintage element to put my signature on the final product. While this look is unique on its own, remember to make it your own by incorporating one of your staple accessories, silhouettes, or colors. And remember to always wear clothes that make you happy! Stay tuned for next week, where the sparkle continues…
