As the year comes to a close, so does Wardrobe Envy’s Sparkle Saga. I figured it’s best to go out with one of the most luxe looks of all — a shimmering maxi fit for a winter wonderland. Many people associate red, green, and silver with the holidays. But I think otherwise. There’s just something about a gold monochromatic palette against a fresh fallen snow that sets off holiday carols in the back of my head and makes me crave a good cup of hot cocoa. And that can be difficult to find, considering there’s rarely a “fresh” fallen snow in either New York City or Los Angeles. So I’m celebrating accordingly!
I’m taking advantage of this picture-perfect scenery by donning my pleated golden Alice + Olivia skirt paired with an off-white moto jacket for warmth and a monochromatic patterned scarf. This fairytale-esque outfit not only belongs in a beautiful wooded area like this, but it’s perfect for daytime in either of my cities. I’ve broken up the soft white and gold hues with a black velvet bootie from Charlotte Olympia, just peeping out of the skirt as I walk. And you all know that I wouldn’t dare leave the house without a staple piece that makes this look my own — my fur-trimmed Coach crossbody. This crossbody not only complements this scenery in particular, but it also ties in my favored vintage aesthetic.
When wearing a monochrome palette like this, it’s very important to remember to keep the outfit interesting by utilizing textures and creating dimension. The gold skirt itself moves so beautifully that I don’t have to do much else with this look. But the moto jacket creates a nice comparison of soft and edgy, and the scarf “wraps” the whole thing up in a cozy winter bow. Underneath the jacket, I’ve layered a simple white tee so as not to take away from the glamour and elegance of the rest of the ensemble.
Over the past few weeks, hopefully you’ve gained some outfit inspiration for your winter wardrobe (and beyond!) It’s so important to not only love the clothes that you’re wearing, but feel fantastic in them as well. I never have trouble with that when there’s some sparkle or shimmer involved.
