Hello all — it’s been a while! After taking in all of the season’s new trends and collections from NYFW, I’m back on the blog. Experiencing so many gorgeous colors, intricate designs, creative styles and interesting outfits in such a short span of time has got me on inspiration overload. I wanted to come back with a bang, (or a Wham!, rather) and I’ve come up with a look that you can easily recreate at home with clothes you already own. You find me in sequins, 6-inch platform heels, and exaggerated silhouettes on the regular, so this time around I’m going for luxe-loungewear.
As a kid growing up in the ’80s, a little part of my heart beats with pure joy when I find a vintage tee in great condition. This Wham! tee layers nicely under my Alice + Olivia kimono for a complementary high-low fashion look. I’ve tucked my t-shirt into a favorite pair of Frame skinny jeans but you can easily do the same with a high-waisted skirt or cropped trousers. Pro tip: If you’re going to wear jeans with a fully-styled outfit for a day out and about, proper fit is key. Make sure that your jeans hug your body in the places that you want, and that you’ve washed/dried them before wearing for a sleek fit.
The pretty pink in the t-shirt is mimicked with my Gianvito Rossi heels. This color-mirroring technique in styling can instantly make any outfit look complete. If you’re someone who doesn’t experiment with color often, a shoe or bag in one of your favorite shades is a great place to start. And speaking of bags, this little Marc Cross crossbody draws from the colors in the shirt as well. The purple/pink color family is one of my favorites and I try to incorporate it whenever I can. I’ll have to keep an eye out when I pass by vintage stores now, because finds like this tee are just too good to pass up. The more t-shirts I find, the more outfit options I have. And with an outfit formula like this, I’ll never be at a loss for what to wear on my days off.
Before signing off, I have a little challenge for you. Pick a favorite vintage/band/satirical tee from your closet. Now pair it with a go-to pair of skinny jeans, and throw a blazer or kimono on top. Dress it up with a pair of heels or dress it down with a pair of sneakers. Was it easy? This just goes to show that it doesn’t have to be a performance activity to look and feel your absolute best…even on a Sunday.
