Melrose Place
One of my favorite places to spend time when I’m in LA is Melrose Place. It is quintessential California….casual and laid back vibe, but still the kind of place that makes you want to look pulled together (no dressing like I’m on my way to yoga!) I have found that LA and New York has come to define my personal style. LA is about sunglasses and sandals. New York is about lipstick and heels. And for me it’s not so much about where I am, but how I’m feeling….sometimes I dress West Coast on Fifth Avenue and sometimes I’m NYC on Wilshire Boulevard. I love the thought of waking up every morning and deciding which character I will be!
Today’s look was my version of LA street style…a suede biker jacket, a button down, distressed jeans, and black booties.
The jacket and the booties are from a brand I’m loving right now, The Kooples, a French ready to wear collection that’s kind of rockstar, kind of trendy and dandy, with just a dash of androgyny. The Kooples concept is based on the idea that people in relationships frequently borrow each other’s clothes. And since it’s usually the women who steal their boyfriends’ shirts, blazers or accessories, it’s not surprising that the majority of the collection is slightly more masculine and androgynous than girly. And I love it!
