And in the blink of an eye, spring is here! While I despise setting my clock forward one hour, the extra light in the evening and the warmer temperatures sure are nice. March and April are full of inspiration for me – foliage and flowers, fresh cut grass and barbecues, outdoor exercise and birds chirping are just some of the little things that influence how I dress when the weather starts to warm up. I’ve actually been traveling quite a bit this spring already – working, dancing, working some more – and upon my return to NYC all I wanted was to put on some comfy clothes and take the weekend to myself. Lucky for me, athleisure is everywhere right now.
Each Fashion Week, designers and street style gurus alike take the athleisure trend and elevate it just a bit more – adding heels, fine jewelry, and other embellishments to dress up their sportswear. Not wanting to unpack from my most recent trip just yet, I did a little closet digging and was more than happy to stumble across my very first pair of Alice + Olivia trousers. If you follow my posts, you know that this is a favorite brand of mine and makes up over half of my wardrobe. So to find these track pants (lovingly named “Stacy Pants” after the designer’s husband’s sweatpants!) in the back of my closet was like finding buried treasure.
Giddy like a kid in a candy store, I moved hangers around to search for the perfect pops of color and print – immediately settling in on my sunshine yellow hoodie from Aritzia. A brightly colored sweatshirt is a wardrobe must for women on the go these days. It’s easy to throw on with a mini skirt, jeans, or other athleisure pieces depending on where you’re going. Since I’m not going to the gym in this look, I needed to pick out some accessories to dress it up and make the complete outfit look intentional. I opted for my comfy white booties, (a springtime alternative to sneakers) and my funky little zebra bag! Even though he only has room for my phone and a mini tube of lipstick, he always puts a smile on my face. This easy, happy outfit will most likely be an outfit formula that I turn to until the weather gets hot. It just goes to show that sometimes the best looks can be inspired by the most unexpected things.
