An army green jacket is a wardrobe staple that can be worn nearly all year round. How does my military-inspired jacket stand out? With lace appliques, of course. This jacket by Veronica Beard is like no other khaki jacket in stores. It has a feminine flair with a cinched waist, bow belt, lace shoulders, and black pocket details. It remains inherently masculine, though, with its classic military nature and color.
Another reason this jacket is so fabulous is because it doubles as a top. Wearing this, layered over a plain t-shirt and cinched up, looks like an outfit that’s ready for the town. I can also wear it open, over a brightly colored sweater or a body con midi dress. Here, I’ve opted for distressed bell bottoms. This is a casual look for me that I could also swap out for distressed skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans. I let the applique speak for itself on the jacket by avoiding equally-decorated bottoms or shoes.
The water snakeskin bag is great for day, but also sophisticated enough for night. And it’s the perfect size to hold my lipstick, phone, and sunglasses case when it’s time for dinner and drinks. Because this look has so many details, prints, and extras, I’ve kept the color palette pretty neutral. Denim and military green can both double as neutrals when paired like this, and the clutch is a beautiful mix of browns and tans. If I wanted to incorporate color, I could definitely go for a pretty mani/pedi or a bright lip. Nothing to overwhelm the true star of the show — this jacket.
