Go into your closet and look at your jeans. You see yourself out on dates, at casual lunches with friends, and shopping on the strip. Now, imagine yourself in those jeans at work. Denim in the workplace is possible, but it’s all about how you style it.
Dressing up your jeans for work is simple, if you have the right materials. Due to the casual nature of denim, you want to make sure the rest of your outfit is business casual with a bit of flair. I’ve returned to my ’90s roots with a lightweight turtleneck. Because it’s conservative and simple, I’ve dressed it up with a statement earring and a navy stiletto.
Layered on top is a fun fur vest and then a classic camel coat. If your office leans on the more professional side, you could switch out the fur and coat for a simple blazer, or even a structured cropped jacket. Whether your jeans are a dark wash boot cut, or more retro like this cuffed pair, you definitely want to keep the rest of your outfit simple and streamlined. These jeans are anything but simple, though. The cute star patches on the backside give the outfit a bit of personality without being inappropriate for the workplace.
I’ve gone with a neutral lip to keep the look daytime-casual. Always prepared for a mid-day touch up, I’ve packed my lipstick and foundation in my goes-with-everything navy bag. It’s one of those bags that’s perfect for work, a night out, or even running errands.
