If you’re anywhere on the East Coast, you’ve been experiencing Mother Nature’s indecisiveness for about a month now. Even if I wake up to 50 degrees, I have no idea whether I’ll be shedding layers or switching to rain boots by mid-afternoon. Frustrating? A little. The perfect excuse to start wearing all of my new spring buys? Absolutely.
My first defense to these precarious weather forecasts is to layer. The star of this look is my Alice + Olivia floral bomber. Equal parts feminine and sporty, this jacket truly elevates any jeans-and-tee outfit. What’s more is this particular number is reversible. That’s music to all of my ladies’ ears. A bright bouquet of springtime poppies on one side of this bomber is juxtaposed by the firey red, abstract floral print on the other. Silky to the touch, and lightweight to wear, Alice + Olivia has done it again. This versatile springtime staple will be at the very front of my closet for the next few months (that is, when I’m not wearing it.)
How many ways do you think you could incorporate this jacket into your wardrobe? For me, it’s a no brainer on top of a Little Black Dress (or any other head-to-toe black look.) My red wide leg pants, my sequin skirt, and even my liquid leather leggings could all pair just as easily. It’s really incredible — the number of ways that one piece can be utilized when you think outside of the box. For today’s outfit I’m riding that casual wave. Distressed denim and a favorite plain tee act as the foundation, while the wicker bag supports the bomber in carrying the trendiness of the outfit.
Normally I would reserve woven bags and purses for vacation or the beach, but lately I’ve been pairing my “beach bags” with casual outfits like this. Not your style? No problem. Any neutral crossbody, clutch, or tote would work just as easily if you’re looking for a more understanding way of accessorizing. If you want to find some middle ground between black tote and woven satchel, look for a wardrobe classic in a bright hue (like my J.W. Anderson in cherry red.) Not only does a bag like this tie into the jacket’s color palette, but it also puts a luxe twist on an otherwise very casual outfit.
