A few weeks back I took a much-needed mini-vacation to Saratoga Springs in Upstate New York. We decided to spend the afternoon in the Canfield Casino and Congress Park, a 17-acre historical national landmark full of lush gardens, breathtaking architecture, and beautiful art. I kept it casual and comfortable for my stroll through the historical site. I paired a white peplum top (which I’ve decided can also work as a jacket when turned backward and left unzipped) and a pair of pajama-style pants. The top, pants, shoes, and beaded purse are all from my go-to brand, Alice + Olivia.
Part of the beautiful artwork featured throughout the site is classical Greek sculptures, such as the “Spit and Spat” Fountain photographed. The fountain was created by an Italian artist in the early 1900s. It was commissioned during peak-popularity of the Canfield Casino, which was known as the “American Monte Carlo”. The sculpture remained on the grounds after the casino closed and was eventually purchased by the city of Saratoga Springs. Something about these sculptures really stuck with me, and I was so inspired by the history and beauty of the fountain.
I have to admit I had no idea how well my pants would match the red flowers surrounding the Spit and Spat Fountain, it was such a pleasant surprise! Alice + Olivia’s Benny Smocked Pants in a beautiful red Chinoiserie garden print were perfect for a day strolling through the park. Alice + Olivia’s website describes them as comfortable as a track pant but way more polished. Comfy and polished is hard to come by, so these pants are definitely a wardrobe essential. Plus, the light fabric makes them perfect for transitioning into the late-Summer and early-Fall!
