One of the most popular trends on runways this season is head-to-toe color stories. We’ve seen cherry red looks, emerald green ensembles, and cotton candy pink outfits from our favorite designers. My hi-low skirt by Layana Aguilar is going to serve me well all spring and summer, and even through the end of the calendar year! Having designed for names like Disney and Project Runway, Layana has a certain dreamy element to her designs. The volume is fun and flirty, adding dimension for visual interest. A versatile piece like this is great for mixing and matching with other pieces all year round, but I’ve opted for following the head-to-toe trend by pairing it with a laser-cut black crop top and sky-high heels. I love Layana’s whimsical designs, all of which can be found at Dreams on Air Boutique & Showroom in New York City. Her pieces build a capsule wardrobe of statement pieces that are still timeless and classic, perfectly matching my aesthetic.
Like always, I needed a pop of color to complete the look. Not to draw away from the all-black ensemble, I’ve chosen a rainbow clutch by Edie Parker with black accents. If you’re not a rainbow kind of girl, you can go for a clutch that sparkles or shines in another neutral color, like blush, silver or nude. Either way, you still have a statement accessory without drawing attention away from the true star of the outfit — this gorgeous skirt.
